New Sample Self-Assessment Tool: How Does Your School Compare to Odds-beating Schools?
Wonder how your school compares to schools that achieve better than average graduation rates for ethnically, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse youth?
NYKids’ new self-assessment tool provides a sample of questions to help you identify areas for improvement and directs you to NYKids’ and other resources to address them.
How to Use the Tool
- First, take the 2-minute sampler self-assessment. When you do so, consider sharing the tool with your colleagues to gather more data and create opportunities for discussion about results.
- Second, see the resources available through NYKids to address areas for improvement as suggested by the tool.
- Finally, read about the six core principles of improvement from the Carnegie Foundation. Improvement science can help structure your learning and those of your colleagues by offering a process of “learning-by-doing.” The process offered by Carnegie – paired with the tools from NYKids – can help those in your school make strides toward improvement.
